Dallas Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic had a phenomenal rookie season, where he put up 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. He won Rookie of the Year by a landslide, giving Mavs fans hope that he has what it takes to be the team's franchise player for a very long time.

Jalen Brunson is also someone who's optimistic about Doncic's potential. In an interview with Chicago Tribune's KC Johnson, he said that he believes Luka will just keep on getting better.

“Luka showed you how much talent he has. He’s only going to get better and better.”

That is indeed the consensus around the league, as Doncic immediately cemented himself as an elite point guard in just his rookie season. And with a better supporting cast highlighted by their acquisition of Kristaps Porzingis back in February, the Mavericks are already aiming to make the playoffs next season.

The Mavs will begin the post-Dirk Nowitzki era, and they are hoping that Doncic will be able to follow the 21-year legend's footsteps and lead the team to a championship someday. It's not going to be an easy road, especially since they're in a loaded Western Conference, but if Luka continues to improve, Dallas will become a powerhouse themselves.

Doncic is a superstar-to-be. There's no doubt about it. When it will happen remains to be seen, but once it does, the rest of the league better watch out. He the skills and the mentality to be the best in his position within the next couple of years.
