Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic suffered a calf injury on Sunday against the San Antonio Spurs, raising fears about his availability for the playoffs. However, his Mavs teammate Jalen Brunson is not too worried about it.

Speaking to the media after the Mavs' 130-120 win over the Spurs, Brunson shared his prediction–well, more of a gut feel–that Doncic won't be missing time on the sidelines when the postseason comes. His remarks has no scientific or medical basis, though. Instead, he is relying on his familiarity with the Slovenian wonderboy and his mentality when it comes to playing games.

“For some reason I feel like he'll be ready to go, knowing the competitor he is,” Brunson said, per Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News.

If that is not enough for Mavs fans to be at ease, there is reportedly optimism that Luka Doncic avoided a significant injury. Of course the team has yet to evaluate their superstar, but they are calling his injury a strained left calf for now.

Doncic suffered the injury late in the third quarter. He hobbled off to the locker room before the Mavs ruled him out for the rest of the contest.

Injury analyst Jeff Stotts put the injury to a better perspective, noting that calf strains have varying recovery time depending on the severity of the issue. For what it's worth, the Mavs have dealt with a calf strain issue earlier in the season, with guard Frank Ntilikina missing four games after needing 12 days to recover.

Fortunately for the Mavs, they have one week off before the start of the playoffs on Saturday, April 16. As the fourth seed, they will be facing the fifth-seeded Utah Jazz in the first round, which could prove to be a difficult matchup if Luka Doncic were to miss time.

For now, Mavs fans can only hope that the injury is not serious and that they will have their superstar ready within the next few days. If not, Jalen Brunson, Spencer Dinwiddie and Dorian Finney-Smith will have to carry the scoring load and fill the void their All-Star would leave.
