Dallas Mavericks big man Kristaps Porzingis left Thursday’s game against the Detroit Pistons due to right knee soreness. This is the same knee that he hurt in last year's playoffs, requiring surgery during the offseason. Porzingis also endured a left ankle sprain last week which kept him sidelined for three games.

The Porzingis experience continues for Mavs fans as they aim to finish the season strong. Over the past two seasons, Porzingis has been in and out of the lineup due to multiple injuries. He has the reputation of not being the most durable player as his constant nagging injuries have worried a lot of people. If the Mavs want to win their next games, the presence of their big man is vital.

Porzingis, as of writing, is averaging 20.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. He was a big reason why the Mavs were able to push the L.A. Clippers last year to six games. Sadly, he didn’t get to finish the series because of his injured knee. It also doesn’t help that this season's schedule has been condensed, which isn't really ideal for players coming off a major injury.

The Mavs are not safe from the play-in tournament just yet. They must win their next couple of games in order to remain in the sixth seed. Thankfully for the Mavs, their schedule is easier compared to the Portland Trail Blazers, who are right behind them as well. They’re going up against the Washington Wizards, Sacramento Kings, and the Miami Heat the following day—where they hope Porzingis suits up.
