Dallas Mavs star Kristaps Porzingis made headlines for the wrong reasons during his team's blowout loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday. Porzingis, frustrated with committing a turnover when faced with an easy path to the basket late in the Mavs' loss to the Warriors, proceeded to kick the ball into the stands. The big man received a technical foul and was then ejected from the contest. On Wednesday, the NBA announced Porzingis' punishment for kicking the ball vs. the Warriors, per NBA reporter Marc Stein.

Per Stein, Mavs forward/center Kristaps Porzingis was fined $15,000 for kicking the ball into the stands vs. the Warriors. It's not surprising to see the NBA crack down on the Mavs star here, as his actions could have resulted in fans or other spectators getting injured.

The Dallas franchise, and the NBA, would have then been held responsible for such injuries.

While $15,000 would seem like loose change for an NBA player, it's seemingly enough of a fine that Porzingis won't go channeling his inner Cristiano Ronaldo by kicking any more basketballs into the stands in the future.

Mavs fans can likely rest easy knowing that Kristaps Porzingis will use his better judgement moving forward to avoid a situation like the one that occurred against the Warriors.
