NBA All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony will make his return to the league on Tuesday night, debuting for the Portland Trail Blazers in their starting lineup against the New Orleans Pelicans.
Anthony's ex-teammate with the New York Knicks, one-time All-Star power forward and now Dallas Mavericks star Kristaps Porzingis, commented on the soon-to-be-thrilling return of Melo.
Per Landon Buford of Heavy.com:
Carmelo Anthony last appeared in an NBA game in November 2018 for the Houston Rockets before being shelved away, traded and waived — later finding no suitors as a free agent until the Blazers took a gamble on him.
Porzingis was teammates with Anthony in his first two seasons in the NBA, prior to Melo being traded in the lead-up to the 2017-18 season.
Anthony was a huge mentor for Porzingis in the latter's early NBA days, and the two shared a short burst of on-court success before Anthony was traded and Porzingis was injured for the Knicks.
Both are in the Western Conference in two completely different situations now, however.
