Luka Doncic won his first career playoff game on Wednesday night, as the Dallas Mavericks evened their first-round series with the Los Angeles Clippers with an impressive 127-114 rout.

Yet, the Slovenian sensation spent much of the second half on the sideline watching his Mavs' teammates cruise to a Game 2 victory.

Doncic played 28 minutes, and only nine in the second half, after finding himself in persistent foul trouble. He picked up his fourth foul during the opening minute of the third quarter (prompting him to visibly and unsuccessfully protest removal from the game), then earned his fifth foul at the onset of the final period.

To Doncic's delight, though, the Mavs responded with a 14-4 run to put the game out of reach. During that stretch, the broadcast caught Mavs guard Jalen Brunson, who is not in the bubble but was in virtual attendance to support his team.

The Mavs shared the moment capturing Brunson on their Instagram feed later, and Doncic teased Brunson for his apparent lack of energy while on camera. Brunson responded by roasting Doncic—who normally carries Dallas in crunch-time—for missing out on the fourth quarter action while his teammates took it to the no. 2-seeded Clippers.

“wake up yooo!!!” Doncic commented.

“stop fouling and I'll watch you hack!” Brunson replied.

In total, Doncic followed up his record-breaking 42-point playoff debut on Monday with 28 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, despite the limited minutes.

“This is how we're going to have to win games,” Mavs head coach Rick Carlisle acknowledged after the game. “Our depth is going to be a big part of it.”

“Being on the bench, it's hard for me. I want to help my team but we won the game,” Doncic said.
