Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James was recently in some hot water for making comments about playing with New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis. Some small-market executives were upset with James' comments, and he responded by listing off a bunch of players he'd like to play with, including Dallas Mavericks rookie phenom Luka Doncic.

After the Mavs' 122-119 win against the New Orleans Pelicans, Doncic was asked about James including him among other NBA luminaries like Kevin Durant, Jimmy Butler, Kyrie Irving, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons:

The inclusion of Doncic, a 19-year-old rookie, certainly caught the attention of many around the NBA. To be mentioned in the same breath as some of the league's best players by LeBron James not even halfway through his rookie season says a lot about the impact Doncic has made.

After leading Real Madrid to a victory in the EuroLeague Finals and winning both the EuroLeague and EuroLeague Finals MVP awards, Dallas traded up to get Doncic, the third pick of the draft. He has become the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award, averaging 19.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game after nearly recording a triple-double in the thrilling win over New Orleans.
