An event as big as the Super Bowl is bound to generate a lot of buzz online. With that buzz often comes a lot of memes. Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic wasn't safe from the meme treatment.
During the Super Bowl halftime show featuring pop artists Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, Shakira had a viral moment when the Colombian artist approached the camera showing her tongue… among others.
One Twitter user used the Shakira gif with the caption “Me when the Mavs drafted Luka” to which Luka Doncic replied with three laughing emojis.
On the court, the second-year star has exploded for the Mavs this season after winning NBA Rookie of the Year in 2019. Doncic is essentially averaging career-highs across the board with 28.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game while shooting 46.4 percent from the field and 32.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Doncic also has the Mavs back into the thick of the playoff hunt for the first time since 2016 with a 30-19 record through 49 games.
