Despite the fact that NBA legend Dirk Nowitzki is no longer a member of the Dallas Mavericks after recently retiring from the league, it appears as though the Mavs icon and rising star Luka Doncic will be teammates forever.

How do we know this? Because Doncic is still roasting Nowitzki on Twitter, of course.

With Nowitzki making an appearance at a FC Dallas match, Doncic just couldn't help himself when he saw the footage of what can only be classified as a questionable penalty kick. In Nowitzki's defense, soccer can't be easy when you are over seven feet tall…

Even though the much younger Doncic couldn't resist poking fun at the longtime Mavs sharpshooter, Nowitzki obviously means a lot to the Dallas newcomer. Although the two will only go on to spend one season on the court together, Nowitzki and Doncic will seemingly be linked together for the rest of time.

“I wish I could spend more days with Dirk,” Doncic previously told reporters following Nowitzki's final NBA game, via the Dallas Morning News. “I wish he would be younger and we could play together. But it was great. This one year was amazing for me, one of my best years. It's just been amazing, being with Dirk.”

Unfortunately for Doncic, Nowitzki and the team's fan base, the Mavs were unable to send the future Hall of Famer out on a high note as Dallas missed out on the postseason in 2018-19.
