Dallas Mavericks rookie Luka Doncic is already turning heads and is getting into some good company just halfway through his first season in the 2018-19 NBA season.

Doncic scored 25 points in their 105-101 win over the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center. The 19-year-old rookie has now scored at least 25 points in his last five games. According to ESPN, the Slovenian guard tied Carmelo Anthony's record for most consecutive games with 25 or more points by a teenager.

Before his 25-point performance against the Spurs, he posted 26 and 29 points against the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves, respectively. He also scored 30 points in a 104-94 win over the Phoenix Suns last week, which came after tallying 27 markers in a 107-97 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers.

His performance this season is not going unnoticed, as he placed second to LeBron James in the latest All-Star voting returns in the Western Conference. Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr, and superstar Steph Curry recently said that Doncic deserves to be an All-Star this season.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich also had nothing but praises for Doncic after the rookie almost single-handedly carried Dallas to a win over San Antonio. The veteran head coach said that he is impressed with the rookie sensation's demeanor despite the high expectations from him even before he was drafted.

ā€œHe has a pace about him that is never frantic,ā€ Popovich said of Doncic via Stefan Stevenson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. ā€ He's calm in everything that he does. He understands spatial relationships and understands where everybody is on the court, what's needed at the time and he's got courage.ā€

In 43 games this season, Doncic averaged 20.3 points on top of 6.7 rebounds and 5.1 assists. He is shooting 43.6 percent from the field, knocking down 2.5 three-pointers per game.
