Luka Doncic gave a warm welcome to Dallas' new basketball star, Charli Collier. Shortly after the Dallas Wings selected Colier first overall in the 2021 WNBA Draft, the Dallas Mavericks superstar rolled out the red carpet for her arrival in the Big D.

The Mavs star provided the warm welcome, but Collier isn't exactly a new face in Texas, having spent four years as a member of the University of Texas Longhorns women's basketball team. The 21-year-old center was one of the most decorated players in the program's rich history.

She earned a First Team Big 12 Conference selection in her final year for the Long Horns in 2020 and was also one of the five finalists for the 2021 Lisa Leslie Award, which recognizes the top center in women's college basketball.

Collier notched over 20.0 points and 12.0 rebounds per game in her junior seasons and was the only NCAA Division 1 player to average those numbers last year. Her career-best 44-point explosion against North Texas is still the most by any Texas player since 1994.

Apart from her accolades in the women's collegiate basketball scene, Collier also won a bronze medal with the United States in the 2016 FIBA Under-17 World Championship for Women.

The 6-foot-5 center was the consensus No.1 pick heading to the draft and the Wings did not hesitate to bring her in for a homecoming.

Big things are expected out of Collier right away after the Wings finished with an 8-14 record last season. Doncic, on the other hand, is quite familiar with living up to high expectations since joining the Mavericks.

The Slovenian stud has become a beloved fixture for the Mavs franchise and Dallas as a whole in just a short amount of time.
