Dallas Mavericks rookie phenom Luka Doncic says he and Mavs legend Dirk Nowitzki are going to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest during All-Star weekend in Charlotte.

In perfect “NBA insider” fashion, Luka Doncic broke the news on Twitter.

The last time we saw Dirk Nowitzki in an All-Star game was back in 2015 when he caught an alley-oop dunk from Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, so maybe the future Hall of Famer still has some tricks up his sleeve for this season.

Doncic is most likely joking around here, but it would be pretty funny and cool to see him and Dirk try and wow the Charlotte crowd with some creative dunks.

Nowitzki, the best player in Mavs franchise history, has appeared in 16 games this season for Dallas. The 13-time All-Star is averaging 3.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 30.0 percent from the field, 26.1 percent from beyond the arc, and 100.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Doncic, meanwhile, has taken the NBA by storm and is the front runner for the Rookie of the Year award. The 19-year-old is putting up 19.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.3 assists per contest while shooting 42.8 percent overall, 35.6 percent from the 3-point line and 73.0 percent from the foul line.

Luka has eight double-doubles and one triple-double on the year.
