Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic suffered a left ankle injury in Game 3 against the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. The Mavs' new franchise player tried to play on the sprain before ultimately taking himself out in frustration with nine minutes left in the game.

That's when Doncic's mom took to social media to send an inspiring message to her son.

Luka Doncic turned his ankle pretty severely. It was incredible that he was able to return to the game, but Doncic was clearly affected by the sprain and needed to come out to avoid making things worse.

If the Mavs have to play without Doncic moving forward, they will likely lose the series. Doncic's status for Game 4 is still up in the air as the team listed him as questionable. Dallas is still waiting for Luka's MRI results.

Doncic is averaging 27.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 8.7 assists in the first three games of the Clippers series. The do-it-all point-forward is shooting 48.1 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 70.3 percent from the free throw line.

For whatever reason, Doncic really struggled at the free throw line in Game 3, as he went 4-of-10 from the charity stripe. All in all, Game 3 was a frustrating night for the Wonder Boy and the Mavs.
