After the Dallas Mavericks suffered another brutal playoffs exit in the first round, several fans are already calling for a coaching change. After all, Rick Carlisle hasn't seen much success with the Mavs since their 2011 NBA title run.

However, team owner Mark Cuban has no plans to part ways with Carlisle, at least not in the immediate future.

Speaking to reporters after the Mavs' Game 7 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Cuban was rather firm with his stance on Carlisle's future with the team.

“He isn't going anywhere,” Cuban said of Carlisle, per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News.

Rick Carlisle is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in the NBA. His offense is often among the best in the NBA, but there are some concerns with the way he manages rotations, develops players and impacts winning. For what it's worth, Dallas has never been past the first round of the postseason since their 2011 run.

In the last six playoffs they made–including this 2020-21–they all went home after the opening series. They have been to two Game 7s, in 2014 against the San Antonio Spurs and this 2021 against the Clippers, and everyone knows how those two ended up.

The Mavs have lost the past two playoffs against the Clippers, and what's more frustrating is the fact that Dallas had several chances to break that drought this year after getting a 2-0 series lead.

Sure enough, Mark Cuban's statement won't sit well with some fans. However, it is worth noting that Carlisle's contract with the Mavs run until the 2022-23 season, and the team might look or assess their options by then if things still don't work out.
