Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle has put together a highly successful NBA coaching career that has spanned 16 seasons.

Following Saturday's win over the L.A. Clippers, it put Carlisle in some exclusive company by reaching his 700th career win as an NBA head coach.

The 58-year-old is also now one of three active head coaches to accomplish that feat joining the likes of Greg Popovich (1,164) and Doc Rivers (812). He is now just seven wins behind John MacLeod (707) for 17th all-time in league history.

Rick Carlisle has had much success over his career with the Mavs, Indiana Pacers, and Detroit Pistons that has seen him with 12 seasons of a record that is .500 or better. This also includes finishing with 50 or more wins in the regular season seven times while helping guide the Mavericks to an NBA title in the 2010-11 campaign and won Coach of the Year with the Pistons in the 2001-02 season.

He is one of the most widely-respected head coaches in the league with 27 years of experience as a coach in the NBA. Rick Carlisle is currently in the first year of his five-year extension worth $35 million that he signed back in November 2015. This should provide him plenty of opportunities to move much further up the all-time wins list.
