The Dallas Mavericks will face off against the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the playoffs. While odds seem to be in favor of the higher-seeded Clippers squad, Shawn Marion believes that his former team can eclipse the Western powerhouse.

Per Dwain Price of mavs.com, Marion believes that the Mavs' offense is their main asset. For him, when the Rick Carlisle-coached squad gets hot from the field, they have the capacity to outlast the Clippers.

“Our offense is elite right now, so that gives us more than a fighting chance,” Marion said. “They’ve got to match up with us. If we get hot from the 3-point line it’s going to be hard for them.”

“I think the Mavs do have a chance, and anything is possible,” Marion said. “I’m not putting anything pass anybody. I think we’re a special team, and I think anything can happen.

Marion, who was part of the 2011 Mavs championship squad, recalled his title experience. From his observation, teams who are on a roll on offense are the ones who win titles.

“The Mavs can score the hell out of the ball. Hot teams win championships to a certain degree. We all have to put our shoes on one foot at a time, so hopefully the Mavs can do something. Let’s throw it up.”

Marion definitely presents an interesting argument. Whether or not the Mavericks come up with an upset is a matter of wait-and-see. But one thing's for sure, it's going to be one hell of a series.
