Wednesday's upcoming game between the Dallas Mavericks and Detroit Pistons at American Airlines Arena is set to be postponed by the order of Texas Governor Greg Abbott due to extreme weather conditions, per Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.

Texas is currently encountering an extensive winter storm that has brought uncharacteristically snowy conditions and cold temperatures. Due to the severe weather, the state's grid has already imposed numerous blackouts and power outages in the area in the past few days.

According to ESPN, a winter storm warning expired in the Dallas-Forth Worth area on Monday. In anticipation of more turbulent circumstances, the National Weather Service has already issued another warning, which is set to run from Tuesday evening to Thursday morning.

The Mavs last saw action on their home floor on Sunday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, which resulted in a 121-118 defeat. The team was initially set to complete their seven-game home stand against the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night prior to the postponement.

Dallas currently holds a 13-15 record for the 10th spot in the Western Conference. With their home game against the Pistons being postponed, the Mavs are expected to travel to nearby Houston for their tilt against the Rockets on Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Pistons already had their Tuesday game postponed against the San Antonio Spurs due to the Spurs' COVID-19 outbreak.
