The Dallas Mavericks are signing combo guard Trey Burke to a three-year deal in the $10 million range, per Marc Stein of the New York Times.

Burke played in eight games for the Mavs during the seeding games at Walt Disney World in the NBA restart. He was also with Dallas for a little bit during the 2018-19 season.

Trey Burke appeared in 33 games during the 2019-20 campaign with the Philadelphia 76ers and Mavs. Overall, he put up 7.4 points, 1.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game while shooting 45.0 percent from the field, 42.7 percent from beyond the arc and 79.3 percent from the free-throw line.

In the 2020 playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers, Burke averaged 12.3 points in the six-game series. The Mavs lost to the Clippers, mostly because All-Star power forward Kristaps Porzingis suffered a knee injury that eventually required surgery.

As everyone knows, the future in Dallas is really bright with superstar Luka Doncic leading the way. The 2019 Rookie of the Year averaged 28.8 points and 8.8 assists per game in 2019-20. The sky is the limit for Doncic and the Mavs as long as the Euro sensation stays healthy.

The Mavs were rumored to be interested in signing small forward Danilo Gallinari, but he shocked the world and joined the Atlanta Hawks instead. Dallas has to find another 20-point scorer next to Doncic and Porzingis if the team wants to contend for a championship next season.
