Looks like Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki has been teaching Luka Doncic some of his moves. And it seems the Mavs rookie is a fast learner.

During the first quarter of the Dallas' home game against the Houston Rockets, Doncic was able to do a Dirk-like fade-away jumper — only his release was a lot quicker.

So not only did he learn Nowitzki's one-legged fader, Doncic also incorporated his own unique style into it.

No wonder why he's the favorite to win Rookie of the Year this season.

Luka Doncic has been phenomenal all season. The 20-year-old rookie is currently putting up 21.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.1 steals. He almost made the All-Star team as well.

There's no denying that the Mavs struck gold when they convinced the Atlanta Hawks to trade Doncic.

Dirk Nowitzki, who is in his 21st season with the Mavs, made it clear he hasn't fully decided yet on whether he'll retire after this season. His main role with the team has been to mentor the young guys, as they prepare to take over once he leaves.

The arrival of Kristaps Porzingis could convince the German sharpshooter to stay one more year.

Nowitzki perfected the one-legged fade-away jumper, which has been an unstoppable offensive move for the past two decades. If he can help Doncic and Porzingis master that shot, Dallas will have a formidable tandem.
