Max Holloway’s net worth in 2022 is estimated to be $2 million. This is agreed upon by multiple reputable sources such as Wealthy Gorilla and Celebrity Net Worth.

Let us now learn more about the mixed martial artists and where his career all started.

Jerome Max Keli'i Holloway was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on December 4, 1991, and was raised in the area of Waianae — a place known for fist fighting. He is of Native Hawaiian, Samoan, and English ancestry. Unfortunately, his parents were heavy drug users as his mother, Missy Kapoi, used crystal meth but she later recovered. His father, Mark Holloway, on the other hand, left their family when Max was around 11 years old.

He started to train in kickboxing when he was 15 years old as a sophomore in high school. He fought under Team Ruthless and he won his first amateur bout after only three days of training. He then graduated from Waianae High School in 2010.

In his first official fights, Max Holloway went undefeated and he gained recognition as the No. 7 featherweight prospect of 2012 in Bloody Elbow’s 2012 World MMA Scouting Report. He was compared to former WEC and former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis because of his ability to include a wide range of moves in his striking game such as knees and elbows, as well as flying and spinning kicks.

For his next fight, he was called up to the UFC to fight Dustin Poirier at UFC 143 as a replacement for the injured Ricardo Lamas — making him the youngest fighter on the UFC roster. Unfortunately, he also suffered his first loss that night as Poirier won via submission in the first round.

Max Holloway picked up his first UFC win when he defeated Pat Schilling via unanimous decision at the Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale. He then defeated Justin Lawrence via TKO in UFC 150, as well as winning via split decision over Leonard Garcia in UFC 155.

On August 27, 2013, he suffered a loss via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 26 against Conor McGregor. The following year, he defeated newcomer Will Chope via TKO in the second round and he was awarded his first Knockout of the Night honors.

From that fight, Max Holloway went on a hot streak as he won 13 consecutive matches, including his TKO win against Will Chope. During that run, he faced Anthony Pettis at UFC 206 and won via TKO in the third round to win the interim UFC Featherweight Championship. This aided in adding to Max Holloway’s net worth in 2022.

The following year, he faced Jose Aldo at UFC 212 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He then proceed to defeat Aldo in the third round via TKO which unified the UFC Featherweight Championship to make him the undisputed title holder. He also won his first Fight of the Night award.

On October 4, 2017, Max Holloway signed a new multi-fight contract with the UFC ahead of his first title defense. He was supposed to face Frankie Edgar at UFC 218 but the challenger had to withdraw from the fight due to injury. He was then replaced by Jose Aldo. Unfortunately for Aldo, he lost the fight once again via TKO in the third round as Holloway successfully defends his title.

He was able to defend his title against Brian Ortega at UFC 231 as he won the fight via TKO at the end of the fourth round by doctor stoppage. On top of his win, he was also awarded the Fight of the Night and Performance of the Night awards.

On April 23, 2019, he went up a weight class to face Dustin Poirier for the vacant interim UFC Lightweight Champion. Unfortunately, he suffered his first loss since August of 2013 as Poirier won via unanimous decision.

He then went back down to featherweight in order to defend his UFC Featherweight Championship against Frankie Edgar. Max Holloway won the fight via unanimous decision to successfully defend his title for the third time.

Unfortunately, the fourth time is not the charm for the champion as he failed to defend his belt against challenger Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 245. In his quest to re-capture the championship, he faced Volkanovski again at UFC 251 but lost via split decision. However, the decision was a controversial one among various media outlets, as well as UFC president Dana White, referee John McCarthy, and different MMA fighters.

Max Holloway was awarded back-to-back Fight of the Night honors adding two more wins to his card as he won via unanimous decision against Calvin Kattar and Yari Rodriguez, respectively, in 2021.
