Trusted gaming industry informants claim that a Metroid Prime Remaster for the Nintendo Switch is coming this year.

Metroid Prime Remaster for the Nintendo Switch – Leaked?

VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grub recently claimed on GiantBomb's Game Mess Mornings podcast that he has “been told definitely that Metroid Prime Remastered is going to be one of (Nintendo's) big holiday games.” This means that fans could hope that the game will be coming out around December 2022. Grub further proposed that Nintendo and developer Retro Studios will slowly port Metroid Prime Trilogy one title at a time on the Nintendo Switch to ease up new fans while keeping older fans happy, all the while gearing up for an eventual release of Metroid Prime 4 on the Nintendo Switch. It is also believed that porting over the games as remasters will help Retro Studios lay the foundation for the development of a new Metroid Prime game on the console. However, neither Nintendo nor Retro Studios has even officially recognized that a Metroid Prime Remaster, much less a Metroid Prime 4, is in development.

This rumor came in shortly before the Nintendo Direct scheduled on June 28th, but fans shouldn't expect any news about Metroid Prime there as Nintendo already clarified that the upcoming Direct would focus more on third-party titles. Hence, no Metroid news whatsoever to expect. You can still watch the announcements live on Nintendo's official Youtube channel.
