The New York Mets are set to unveil a Tom Seaver statue on April 15 prior to the Mets' home opener against the Diamondbacks. Seaver, a Hall of Fame pitcher, passed away in 2020. The statue has been in the works for a couple of years and was finally completed prior to the 2022 campaign.

The statue will be near the Citi Field entrance close to the Home Run Apple. Seaver's widow and their two daughters will be in attendance for the game. Mets' owner Steve Cohen and Hall of Fame catcher Mike Piazza will also be in attendance.

Steve Cohen commented on Seaver and his legacy.

“There is a reason he was called ‘The Franchise. You can’t measure what Tom Seaver meant to this organization. This magnificent statue will be a wonderful daily reminder to Mets fans coming to Citi Field that Tom Seaver is forever a Mets legend.”

This Tom Seaver statue will be something that not just Mets fans will appreciate, but all baseball fans.

The right-handed ace was a true superstar of the game. He was selected to the All-Star team 12 times, was a 3-time NL Cy Young award winner, and led New York to a World Series victory in 1969. Seaver finished his career with a superb 311-205 record, 2.86 ERA, and totaled 3,640 strikeouts. He led the NL in strikeouts on five operate occasions and ERA on three separate occasions.

Tom Seaver was undeniably one of the best pitchers baseball has ever seen. The Mets legend's statue will officially be unveiled to the public on Friday.
