Grapefruit League action hit a fever pitch Sunday afternoon in the fifth inning of the game with the St. Louis Cardinals vs. New York Mets. With Cardinals pitcher Jordan Hicks on the mound for the first time on the day, Mets second baseman Luis Guillorme batted through 22 pitches to draw a walk. Needless to say, the Mets dugout went ballistic on the deciding pitch.

The smile on Guillorme's face when he finally lands on first base was priceless. To put the cherry on top, Guillorme would score for the Mets off of a Francisco Lindor walk. What an an inning for the man who will be allowed his first arbitration at the end of the 2021 season.

The 22-pitch at-bat adds to what has already been an insanely entertaining and storyline-laden Spring Training. We've seen former MVP and $330 million dollar man Bryce Harper homer on his first at-bat of the Philadelphia Phillies Grapefruit League campaign.

Trevor Bauer pitched the first inning with one eye closed to help the reigning champion Los Angeles Dodgers against the San Diego Padres. And to top it all off, we saw Baltimore Orioles outfielder Trey Mancini nab a single in his first at-bat since defeating colon cancer.

The return of Spring Training, and the magic that comes with it, is one of the most encouraging signs for the return to sports normalcy. After the weirdest and most volatile season in the history of Major League Baseball in 2020, the 2021 campaign looks to bring an air of optimism and comfort for fans of America's pastime.
