It's been almost 40 years since NBA legend Michael Jordan played for the UNC Tarheels, but apparel from his legendary college days is still worth a fortune.

On Friday night, MJ's 1982/83 UNC jersey sold for a ridiculous $1.3 million at the Heritage Auction, according to the Action Network's Darren Rovell:

That was the same season Michael Jordan led the Tarheels to a national title, averaging 20 points and five rebounds per game. The former Chicago Bulls star ultimately fell to third overall in the 1984 NBA Draft, but he is still considered one of, if not the greatest basketball players to ever step on the hardwood.

Jordan was one of the first players to really make UNC a household name in the college basketball world. Many notable names that have played in the Association have come from the prestigious program in Chapel Hill, from Vince Carter to Jerry Stackhouse.

Michael Jordan went on to win five NBA titles with the Bulls, while also collecting just as many MVP awards throughout his 15-year career.

This isn't the first MJ memorabilia to sell for a wild amount, either. Back in August of 2020, a pair of his Jordans went for $615,000, becoming the most expensive sneakers sold ever.

Michael Jordan is one of the greatest athletes professional sports have ever seen, therefore, this is really no surprise.
