Michigan football may have been without head coach Jim Harbaugh in their season opener against East Carolina, but that didn't stop them from reaching some incredible milestone.

In the Wolverines' 30-3 drubbing of the Pirates last Saturday, they also made streaming history with NBC Sports. Apparently, the game became the “most-streamed college football game in NBC Sports' history,” per  MLive.

While NBC didn't provide the exact viewership numbers, it's worth noting that they did confirm Michigan football's game against East Carolina surpassed the two streaming records made by Notre Dame football.

Of course the Wolverines probably won't make a big deal out of it. After all, they have bigger aspirations than reaching such viewership milestones. In the business side of the game, though, that's definitely a huge boost for the team.

As the interest in Michigan football grows, so are the opportunities for the team and the players to earn. Getting plenty of eyes is one key to landing NIL deals for players. With that said, such record isn't that bad at all.

On the football side, Michigan will surely look to maintain the momentum they got from the Pirates win as they aim to build their case for the national championship. They will play the UNLV Rebels next on Saturday. While the team will still be without Jim Harbaugh–who'll be on the second of the team's self-imposed three-game suspension–it doesn't look like the Wolverines will  have any sort of a problem.

Michigan football has maintained its ranking at no. 2 on the AP Top 25 of the college football rankings.
