Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh sees an awful lot of himself and his team in the Washington football team. Harbaugh says looking at Washington is like seeing a mirror image of Michigan, per ESPN.

“Really feel like these are the two best teams,” Harbaugh said, per ESPN. “They're the last two standing.”

Michigan and Washington are both 14-0 heading into Monday's College Football Playoff final. The schools each won their respective national semi-final games. The two are both led by elite quarterbacks, as Michigan's J.J. McCarthy and Washington's Michael Penix Jr. have worked wonders on the field this season for each team.

But there can only be one champion. Michigan football is fighting for its first CFP championship after being in the playoffs for the last two years and losing. Washington last won a national title in 1991 and are led by coach Kalen DeBoer, who is early in his tenure at the school. After inheriting a team that had a 4-8 season in 2021, DeBoer has gone 25-2 in two seasons with Washington.

Harbaugh says the two teams are “mirror images” of each other in how hard and how thorough they play. Both teams won close games in the semis. Michigan needed overtime to outlast Alabama, 27-20. Washington had to hold the Texas offense down on the final play of the game to get a 37-31 victory over the Longhorns.

The college football world is eagerly awaiting to see who comes out the victor following the CFP final. Michigan football and Washington play in the national championship, Monday night at 7:30 Eastern.
