The Houston Astros looked like they were down for the count when Adam Duvall hit a first-inning grand slam to put the Atlanta Braves up 4-0 in Sunday night's Game 5 of the 2021 World Series. But with the Astros facing a disappointing World Series defeat in the face, they got up off the mat and punched back, earning a 9-5 victory to stay alive and send the series back to Houston.
Astros star Carlos Correa is an MMA fan and used a fighting analogy to describe the situation:
Correa: "I'm a huge MMA fan and I've seen lots of guys almost knocked out, and they battle back to win the fight. We were down 3-1. Now we're still down 3-2. I truly believe if there's one team that can accomplish that in this league, it's us." #Astros

The Braves truly seemed like a team of destiny when they went up 3-1 in the series and then Duvall hit that grand slam. The vibes were off the charts in Atlanta, with Houston's magic seemingly running out.

But this Astros team isn't going to go down without a fight. Whatever you think about their sign-stealing scandal, this is an extremely talented team that has had a lot of success in recent years. They're refusing to go out meekly and will at least give themselves a chance in their home ballpark.
Correa played a key role in Houston's victory on Sunday night, racking up three hits in five at-bats while driving in a pair of runs. The Astros got contributions from up and down the lineup, with Martin Maldonado even knocking in three runs from the bottom of the order.
Monday brings an off day before this World Series resumes on Tuesday at Minute Maid Park. Houston is expected to send Luis Garcia to the mound against Max Fried, who got tagged for six runs in a Game 2 loss.
The Braves will be feeling plenty of pressure to close this series out on the road. Atlanta is known for championship heartbreak, so the tensions will be high.
