For Game 1 of the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays, the LA Dodgers are entrusting Blake Snell to get the party started on Friday. Also, he will be facing the Blue Jays rookie sensation Trey Yesavage.

All the while, Snell is getting to live out a dream, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. Forever, Snell had wanted to pitch in the World Series as well as wanting to be the best pitcher in the game. Now, he feel as though he has achieved that.

“I've always wanted to be the best pitcher in the world,” Snell said. “I've always chased it.”

During the regular season, Snell went 5-4 with a 2.35 ERA and 72 strikeouts. In the postseason, Snell has been virtually unstoppable. He is 3-0 with a 0.86 ERA and pitched 21 innings. Altogether, Snell has accumulated 28 strikeouts.

Additionally, Snell was the guy who was on top of his game against the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS. After Game 1, the Dodgers will give the ball to Yoshinobu Yamamoto for Game 2. The two have become the modern-day Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale. A dominant lefty and righty proudly donning the Dodger blue.

The Dodgers are looking to repeat as World Series champions. Meanwhile, Snell is gunning for his first title.

Blake Snell's last World Series was against the Dodgers

In 2020, the Dodgers faced the Tampa Bay Rays in the COVID-affected World Series. At the time, Snell was pitching for the Rays.

His most notable moment was in Game 6. Ultimately, Snell was pulled out of the game by manager Kevin Cash in the 6th inning. Altogether, Snell had struck out nine through four innings and gave up only two hits. The Rays had a 1-0 lead.

Afterward, the Dodgers scored two runs in the 6th inning. Eventually, the Dodgers went onto win 3-1 and the title. That decision was met with a barrage of debate and criticism.
