Mets agree to deal with Brad Hand

The southpaw struggled immensely during his time with the Jays after he was acquired from the Washington Nationals on July 29th. In 11 appearances, he had a 7.27 ERA and 0-2 record. The Mets will be hoping Hand can find himself and give them some quality innings late in ballgames.
Brad Hand was once a legitimate closer. Before the trade to Toronto, he collected 21 saves while posting a 3.59 ERA for the Nats in 2021. After all, he is a three-time All-Star who has shown the ability to finish off games.
While the Mets were able to add him to their pen, it's important to note that Hand won't be available for NY if they make the playoffs because he was acquired after August 31st. Basically, this will be a short-term rental for the team as they make a postseason push. If the lefty shows well enough, he could get a deal with the Mets.
In his career, Brad Hand was a 3.70 ERA and 126 saves. He's also struck out 9.2 hitters per nine innings in 11 big league seasons. Hopefully, he can help New York in their hunt for October.
