The MLB All-Star game is less than a month away and the league just released its first official fan balloting results on MLB.com. Plenty of the usual suspects are in the conversation. The American League features 3 players who have received more than 1 million votes so far. Those players include Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, and… Alejandro Kirk

Kirk, a catcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, has received 1,057,008 votes up to this point. His total trails only Judge and Trout in the AL.

The Blue Jays have dominated MLB fan voting so far. If the All-Star game was tomorrow, Toronto would have four starters in the contest. But Kirk’s results are more than a product of rampant Blue Jays fan voting.

Kirk leads all catchers in batting average and WAR. The 23-year old owns a superb .307/.397/.464 slash line with an .861 OPS as of this story’s publication. He has taken MLB by storm this season and is emerging as a top-tier catcher.

Fans all around the league recognize Kirk’s talent. Although many fans tend to vote in a biased-manner towards their favorite teams, most fans have thrown their votes towards Alejandro Krik at the catcher position.

As a result, Kirk holds a commanding lead. The next closest catcher in fan voting is the Yankees’ Jose Trevino, who has just over 387,000 votes.

It will be intriguing to see which three players end up leading the AL in fan voting for the MLB All-Star Game. For now, it is Aaron Judge, Mike Trout, and Alejandro Kirk leading the charge.
