New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton has been on a crazy tear in the past couple weeks. He's at it again Thursday against the Houston Astros.
Stanton hit a massive home run against Astros starter Lance McCullers Jr in the third inning. It marks his third homer in three games and runs his hitting streak to 12 games:

Stanton's brilliance at the plate has played an enormous role in New York's surge up the American League East standings.
The former National League MVP was hitting .158 with a .571 OPS on April 21. He has since hit safely in 12 straight, raising his average to .314 and OPS to .953 entering Thursday's game. Stanton had seven hits, seven RBI and a pair of homers in the first two games of the series against the Astros.
Can the Yankees star stay healthy? That's always the big question for Stanton.
Article Continues BelowThe 31-year-old played sparingly in each of the past two seasons. He played in just 18 games in a full, 162-game season in 2019 and played only 23 of 60 contests in the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign.
However, a healthy Stanton can play a massive role in New York's lineup. The Yankees have had a hard time getting some of the other big bats rolling. Stanton and Aaron Judge can negate some of the struggles if they continue clubbing the ball all over the yard.
It's not impossible to imagine an MVP campaign from Stanton. He hits the ball harder than anyone in the bigs and plays in a hitter-friendly park.
The Yankees surely wouldn't mind a healthy Stanton helping to guide them back to the top of the AL East standings. He's certainly doing everything in his power to help New York win.
