Saturday's game between the Washington Nationals and San Diego Padres made national headlines after a horrifying incident involving a shooting outside of Nationals Park that resulted in the game being suspended and resumed on Sunday. The fans went to leave the park in a frenzy, and others went down to the dugout and a few Padres players– including Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr.– opened the gates and directed fans into the dugout.
On Sunday, Padres manager Jayce Tingler spoke on the incident and commended the way the players reacted to such a frightening situation.

It was a scary incident and the Padres players, as well as the Nationals staff and personnel, reacted and immediately thought of the others to lead them to safety.
Tingler elaborated a bit more on the situation and added he is “proud to be a Padre.”
“I couldn’t be any more proud to be. Padre, to be with the men in there.”

Wil Myers was also seen escorting fans and families into the dugout as they searched for any type of shelter amid pure uncertainty of where the gunshots were coming from.
For what it's worth, the Padres and Nationals finished up the suspended game on Sunday afternoon and it resulted in a Padres victory, although it must have been difficult to turn around and head right back to the stadium where chaos and pandemonium took place.
