San Francisco Giants minor leaguer Drew Robinson's story is one filled heartbreak, horror and then perseverance and joy.
It was just last April, in 2020, that Robinson planned and tried to take his own life with a gunshot to the head. Jeff Passan of ESPN did an incredible job documenting and telling Robinson's story.
Miraculously, Robinson survived although losing his right eye. Fast forward to 2021 and on Tuesday evening and Robinson launched his first home run of the season playing for the Giants' Triple-A affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats.

Robinson was batting just .077 in a small sample size of games to start the year. His second inning bomb was a moment worthy of making the hair on your arms stand up as he attempts to make another go at his MLB career.
Article Continues BelowThe Giants' minor leaguer has since become an advocate and has spoken out about the difficulties of dealing with suicidal thoughts while dealing with mental health issues. His return to baseball and a second chance at life has provided him with a fresh outlook on life.

Whether or not Robinson makes it all the way back to show at the major league level with the Giants is yet to be seen, and perhaps that isn't the ultimate goal for the 2010 4th round pick anymore. Regardless, his viral moment from Tuesday night provided hope for that career in the big leagues and a spark for so many who have followed along with his path since he survived his suicide attempt last April.
