It's been 20 years since Dusty Baker‘s son Darren was nearly trampled at home plate, if not for J.T. Snow's heroic actions during the 2002 World Series. Two decades later, Darren, a member of the Washington Nationals' organization, featured in a game against his father during spring training. In an amazing moment between father and son, Darren Baker was tasked with exchanging lineup cards with his father Dusty, who is the manager of the Houston Astros.

Any moment between a father and son on the baseball field is impactful, but this moment has decades of history built up. Darren first came to national attention during the 2002 World Series.
Just a toddler then, Darren was serving as the Giants' bat boy when he prematurely ran onto the field to serve his duties. He was nearly trampled by J.T. Snow as he crossed the plate, before picking Baker up and escorting him safely back to the dugout. Baker was unharmed and the moment became an iconic scene from World Series history.
It's amazing to see Darren, 20 years later, following in his father's footsteps in MLB, now a member of the Nationals' farm. Baker was drafted by the Nationals in the 10th round of the 2021 MLB Amateur Draft and was able to feature for the team during their spring training matchup against his dad's club.
What's more, Darren managed to record a base hit in the game against his father, capping off what was surely a memorable day in the Baker household, and a moment they'll never forget.
