Ryan Bader has a very fun last one and one that can be used in connection with many nicknames that use puns. Currently, the Bellator MMA light heavyweight has his nickname as ‘Darth.' Which turns into Ryan ‘Darth' Bader.
The MMA champion has been asked by fans many times to change his nickname over to ‘Master.' It's something the former two-division champion has been flirting with and he loves the nickname idea.
In a recent interview with Bloody Elbow, Ryan Bader was asked if he gets many MMA fans asking him to change his name to ‘Master.' He couldn't help but laugh about it.
“Oh a ton, and I’m for it, too,” Bader said on MMA fans asking about his nickname. “I think we tried it a few times. They love it, but at the end of the day when it really comes down to pull the trigger on it, saying that on national television would be something, they just don’t want to cross that line. I embrace it, and I want to at least once in my career come out and have them, you know, announce me as Ryan “Master” Bader. It’d be fun. It’d be fun for the crowd. I’m all for it.”
Essentially the pun, Darth Bader, for Darth Vader of course, would be replaced by something very different from what Disney or even Star Wars have in mind. He would become Bellator MMA champion, Ryan ‘Master' Bader.
The nickname is genius and one that would be very fun for everyone involved. Somehow though, one can't help but doubt that his current MMA promotion would appreciate the name change.
