Monster Hunter Rise is soon coming to PC ports which is huge news, however, there’s a downside to this. Capcom announced that cross-play between Switch and PC won’t be available and neither is cross-save.

It may be huge news that Monster Hunter Rise is coming to PC, but the dealbreaker may prove to be the bigger news. Switch owners who aspire to play on PC sadly need to start out fresh in the game. This is in spite of the survey that Capcom did late last month. What makes things worse, players wouldn’t be able to play with their friends on other platforms. Looks like those who got a head start on the Switch won’t be able to show off their cool items.

On Monster Hunter’s Twitter page, Capcom explains their reasons for not implementing what players see as an important feature. Capcom acknowledges the fact that players have heavily been requesting both cross-play and cross-progression for MH Rise. However, the developers find it difficult to execute at this time. It’s kind of weird considering that most games these days have already perfected cross-platform elements.

If you’ll notice in the tweet there were a couple of noteworthy words such as “this time”. This could mean that cross-platform features might appear in the game in the future. Sad to say, it might be too late when Capcom finally decides to give the green light to the feature. Most likely by that time, everyone would’ve already grinded both the story and their items. If Capcom does truly desire to implement cross-platform, they better do it soon.
