Holy smokes, Johnny Cage fans! The Mortal Kombat Movie trailer has been provided to us to drool over as if it’s a holiday morning. Also released, though previously mostly understood, was the Mortal Kombat Movie release date. Also, we will get to if Mortal Kombat on HBO Max in a second.

Nonetheless, let’s not bury the lede too much here and instead get in the nitty of all the gritty.

H/T the movie’s official Twitter account, obviously.

There’s a lot to unpack from the trailer itself, but what I found most important of all is just how good the visuals are.

The earlier Mortal Kombat flicks were… corny and felt out of time even when they were originally released. This feels like New Line is truly trying to lift the franchise off the ground, returning it to glory form.

Will it stay true to the video games? Well, given that in some of them you can literally fight Big Bads from other franchises, it’ll likely stay truer to the earliest form of the franchise.

Hooray, conjecture!

Mortal Kombat Movie Release Date: April 16

Mortal Kombat Movie Trailer, Mortal Kombat Movie Release Date, Mortal Kombat Movie Trailer HBO Max

This isn’t really burying the lede since it was in the trailer tweet, as well as this subheading, but it also does answer the “will the Marvel Kombat Movie on HBO Max be a thing” question.

Nonetheless, April 16 the film will be released on HBO Max as well as the traditional route.

That being said, for those who only read subheadings for post like these…
