After an intense two weeks of competition, the first CS:GO major in over two years has finally ended. After the dust has settled, Natus Vincere stands on top as the winner of the PGL Stockholm Major 2021, beating out G2 Esports in a heart-pounding 2-0 match in the Grand Final.

After entering the tournament in the Legends Stage, Natus Vincere kept a monstrous win streak going for their entire stay in the tournament. The Ukrainian team absolutely dominated their matches, winning every single map against every team they faced. Natus Vincere go home holding the first Major trophy since 2019, and a cool $1,000,000 for their victory.

G2 as the runner up goes home with $300,000, while the Heroic and Gambit Esports bag $140,000 each in 3rd/4th place. Team Vitality, FURIA Esports, Virtus.pro, and Ninjas in Pyjamas will all net $70,000 each for their 5-8th place performance.

While Astralis may have the record for most consecutive Major wins, Natus Vincere has made CS:GO history by being the first team to win a Major event without dropping a single map.

CS:GO esports fans are no doubt familiar with the spectacular talent of Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, with many considering him the Greatest of All Time of the game. However, since the start of his career in 2013, s1mple has failed time and again to win the coveted Major title… until now.

Known for his insane flicks and AWP plays, s1mple has been previously crowned Best Player of 2018 by HLTV.org, and was a runner up for the same award for 2019 and 2020. He has also won 17 MVP medals from HLTV.org, and has won multiple international CS:GO tournaments in his 8-year career, including an Intel Grand Slam trophy.

Finally able to claim a CS:GO Major title, s1mple and the Natus Vincere squad have cemented themselves in the annals of competitive Counter Strike history. Previously, Natus Vincere have only ever made it to the runner up spot, but they have finally cracked the code and won in the most spectacular fashion.

Natus Vincere has also won multiple S-tier CS:GO tournaments, including ESL One, ESL Pro League, BLAST Premier, and Intel Extreme Masters events, with the PGL Stockholm Major being their first taste of a Major win. Whether this means that Natus Vincere are the GOAT of the CS:GO scene is up for debate, but one thing is for sure: anyone will be hard-pressed to match Natus Vincere's performance in any future Majors to come.
