Now that the 2017-18 season is in the books, most teams around the NBA landscape have shifted their focus to the upcoming Draft, including the Memphis Grizzlies, who are reportedly interested in former University of Missouri stand-out Michael Porter Jr.

Porter Jr, now 19 years of age, is a 6-foot-10 forward who's drawn loads of attention from most teams around the league. In 2017, he earned McDonald's All-American and Mr. Basketball honors. However, there is one lingering concern that teams seem to have with regards to taking him in the NBA Draft.

Porter Jr. missed most of his freshman season with the Tigers due to a lower back injury. In fact, he played just three games for Mizzou last season, averaging 10.0 points on 33.3 percent shooting from the field (30.0 percent from beyond the arc) and 6.7 rebounds. Though he missed a lot of time, there are still teams in the NBA who are keeping a keen eye on the situation.

According to Sam Amick of USA Today, Grizzlies executives recently met with Porter to evaluate his medical status and will “seriously consider” selecting him with the No. 4 pick. There have also been reports indicating that Memphis executives would be open to trading the pick away.

Earlier this week, Porter Jr. cancelled a scheduled workout due to muscle spasms in his hip. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski notes that Porter's spasms were likely caused by an increased number of workouts after surgery.

“There's not great concern over the spasms, which were really a product of him ramping up his workouts coming off that back surgery,” Wojnarowski reported in a recent interview with ESPN.

Exactly where Porter Jr. will be taken in the 2018 Draft remains to be seen. Be sure to keep your browsers locked on ClutchPoints for more information on this topic as it becomes available.
