As the NBA and its players wrestle with the issues facing them in an effort to resume the 2019-20 season, Walt Disney World employees and staff also have a strict guideline to maintain health and safety during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Disney staff working during the NBA’s resumed season, occurring in Disney World’s Orlando location, have four major rules if and when the season restarts there.

Disney staff will always have to wear face masks and gloves while maintaining social distancing with players (the six feet rule applies). Additionally, working staff members will have routine checks on their temperature and possible symptoms of the coronavirus and, for the housekeeping staff in particular, they cannot be in the same room as NBA players.

The NBA is currently working on how to proceed with a resumed season, which is set to tip-off again on July 30 — one day earlier than the original proposal, already approved by the league’s Board of Governors (team owners) and later stamped for approval by the NBPA.

In the week since the approved plan, new questions have emerged, raised by players who fear potentially exposing themselves and their families to the coronavirus. Not to mention the ill-defined regulations, sparking concerns on whether a “bubble” will truly exist to maintain isolation and safety.

According to a recent report, Kyrie Irving and as much as 200 players have been in communication with one another. Aside from the health risks, several players have also questioned the message the league is sending in resuming the season amid the ongoing protests against racism, social injustice and police brutality.

There are surely many issues that need to be tackled first before the NBA officially starts up again at the end of next month.
