Portland Trail Blazers guard Gary Trent Jr. has signed with Klutch Sports one year ahead of his free agency, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 21-year-old Trent now joins a group of talented players represented by Klutch Sports, including LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Ben Simmons.

Trent will be a restricted free agent following the 2020-21 season, allowing him to field offers from other teams before the Blazers can ultimately match the said offers. If his production continues to trend upward next campaign, he could be up for a big payday in the 2021 offseason.

A former Duke guard, Trent proved that he can be a reliable knock-down 3-point shooter for the Blazers going forward. Though it'll be hard to find room for him in the starting lineup alongside Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, his offensive presence will be greatly appreciated off the bench.

Prior to the postponement of the NBA season, Trent was viewed as a typical second-year player that could come in and give decent minutes while the starters rest. Yet, things changed upon entering the Disney bubble in Orlando for the resumption of the 2019-20 campaign. Trent's averages skyrocketed as he proved himself more than capable of handling the offense when Lillard or McCollum was resting.

Against the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the postseason, the Blazers leaned heavily on Trent. In a last-ditch effort to save the team in a Game 5 showdown, Trent went off for 16 points while shooting a phenomenal 42.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Portland will have to show Gary Trent Jr. that he's valued, or he'll be off onto another team merely hours into the free agency period.
