The NBA All-Star game is obviously the main show of the league's festivities during the All-Star weekend, though contests such as the 3-point shootout also draw the excitement of fans around the league every year. On Tuesday, the league announced the participants in the NBA All-Star Weekend 3-point shootout, including stars such as Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine and newly acquired New Orleans Pelicans guard CJ McCollum, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

In addition to CJ McCollum and Zach LaVine, the NBA's All-Star Weekend 3-point shootout will feature notable names, such as Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, as well as up-and-comers like Desmond Bane of the Memphis Grizzlies and Luke Kennard of the Los Angeles Clippers.

LaVine will be competing in the contest for the third year in a row, with McCollum also participating for the third time in his career. None of the players featured in this year's 3-point shootout have ever won the contest, which should make for an exciting tournament.

Towns being in the contest also makes for an interesting trend, as it will be the third time in the last four years that a big man will participate in the NBA All-Star Weekend sharpshooting event.
