The NBA family has lost one of their own tonight. Former Portland Trail Blazers star Clifford Robinson has passed away. The 18-year pro was 53 years of age. His family released a statement to The Athletic and Stadium, announcing he had passed following a year-long battle with lymphoma.

In the statement the family mentions some of his accolades, including scoring more points in his career than notable names such as Magic Johnson, Isiah Thomas and Scottie Pippen. He also was named to the NBA All-Defensive Team as well being named the Sixth Man of the Year in 1993 and an All-Star selection in 1994.

Robinson played for five teams in his 19 years in the NBA. He started his career where he would end his life, in Portland with the Trail Blazers. He played in Portland for seven years before moving to Phoenix to play with the Suns. He would stay in Phoenix for four seasons before moving on to Detroit to play for the Pistons for two years, followed by the Golden State Warriors for two years. He would finish his career in New Jersey with the Nets for two seasons.

His family mentions his support for the league's efforts on social justice. Robinson was an advocate for social justice throughout his life. Robinson's family noted his efforts in building relationships between the community in his hometown of Buffalo and the Buffalo Police Department, supporting the Police Basketball League along with other endeavors to bring the police and the community together.

Rest in peace, Clifford Robinson.
