The full cast of the upcoming film Space Jam 2 has yet to be announced, but according to former NBA superstar Dwyane Wade, he certainly won’t be involved.

While being interviewed for Sports Illustrated for a profile on the now-retired NBA player, Wade was asked if he was going to be in the upcoming film. According to Rohan Nadkarni, Wade answered that he wouldn’t be with a laugh, shutting the door on a possible last-second reunion between himself and his longtime best friend, LeBron James.

Rumors about Wade potentially joining the cast have been circulating for months, with James adding fueling to the fire when he re-tweeted a clip of the two performing an alley-top. Now, however, it seems like Wade is enjoying his upcoming retirement, and plans to relax for some time before doing anything else. While films may not be out of the question for Wade, some downtime is probably a nicer choice for him in the moment.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Space Jam 2 already boasts a strong cast of superstars. Among the many professional basketball players reported to be in the movie are Damian Lillard, Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, Diana Taurasi, and Nneka Ogwumike. The film is currently set to release sometime in 2021, and will also star Don Cheadle and Sonequa Martin-Green, and while we don’t have much more information on it, it’ll likely include many more superstars by the time the film is done. Unfortunately for those hoping, Wade will just be checking out the film in theaters like the rest of us.
