Former NBA guard Iman Shumpert was known for his fleet-footedness on the defensive end. He could stay in front of the best offensive guys, usually getting assigned to dance with the likes of Stephen Curry, James Harden, and Chris Paul.

But on Monday night, he sure showcased his footwork and other fancy moves as he ruled the “Dancing With the Stars” title with his partner Daniella Karagach. In topping the 30th season of the popular reality dance contest, Shumpert became the first NBA player to be crowned as the winner (via ESPN).

Former NBA players haven't done necessarily well in “Dancing With the Stars.” Guys like Lamar Odom, Rick Fox, and even the legendary Kareem Abdul-Jabbar have tried their luck, but to no avail. Curiously, all of them were former players of the Los Angeles Lakers. It felt like that needed to be pointed out.

Shumpert has impressed many of his NBA colleagues throughout his journey, getting tweets from his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammates LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Shumpert, however, is not exactly a stranger to dancing, as his wife Teyana Taylor is an established choreographer. So it's safe to assume he got some home-schooling.

His win could pave the way for other NBA stars to join “Dancing With the Stars.” When asked who would be perfect contestants, Shumpert picked another former teammate in Kyrie Irving and Lakers forward Carmelo Anthony, citing their great footwork.
