Philadelphia Sixers center Joel Embiid and Minnesota Timberwolves big man Karl-Anthony Towns have had a complicated competitive relationship over the past few years. The two have been in between multiple flagrant fouls, fights, wrestles and cursed words. In their recent NBA showdown on Saturday, Towns and Embiid went at it once again

In the third quarter, Karl-Anthony Towns was driving to the basket only to get stopped by Joel Embiid, who wrapped his arms around Town’s chest. KAT was about to fall, but the Sixers star was able to catch him before he did hit the floor hard.

Prior to Towns' play, Embiid was also fouled by Towns in a similar way, but it’s worth noting that Towns did not help Embiid when he hit the ground. Suffice it to say that the animosity is indeed still evident between these two premier NBA big men.

Embiid, who came back from a knee injury, aims to continue his MVP-caliber season. The Sixers dropped to second place in the Eastern Conference standings, but they were just one game behind the Brooklyn Nets prior to Saturday's game. Before getting hurt, Embiid was averaging 29.9 points, 11.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Thankfully for the Sixers, they were doing relatively well despite missing their NBA superstar.

As for the Timberwolves, the struggle of losing in the NBA continues. Although since the coaching change, rookie Anthony Edwards has shown his potential in the past few games. Towns, who has dealt with a lot of issues on and off the court this season, is averaging 24.1 points, 10.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists.
