Washington Wizards forward Davis Bertans got posterized by Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant late in the second quarter of their NBA showdown on Sunday. While the Latvian shooter was unable to get back on KD, Russell Westbrook did the job for him.

With less than three minutes left before halftime, Durant got past Robin Lopez and challenge Bertans' defense near the rim. The Wizards' shooter did not stand a chance, as the one-time NBA MVP powered in a one-handed jam over him.

A few possessions later, the Nets scorer was looking for another easy bucket. But his former Thunder teammate came flying out of nowhere, rejecting his jumper from behind.

Davis Bertans was not involved in that magnificent defensive stop at all,  but he's probably relieved that Russell Westbrook got one back for him. The 28-year-old stretch forward, after all, is not really known for his defensive abilities. After signing an extension with the Wizards in the NBA offseason, Bertans is averaging 10.9 points on 33.7 percent shooting from downtown entering Sunday's game.

He is still trying to regain his rhythm after missing significant time due to the COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Westbrook, meanwhile, has struggled greatly in his first season in The Capital. In 10 games prior to the match with the Nets, the nine-time NBA All-Star is norming 18.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 9.6 assists. However, he is only shooting 38.1 percent from the field.

For his part, Kevin Durant has been on a tear for the Nets with averages of 30.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 15 games.
