The 2019-20 NBA season is on track to resume at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida with 22 teams participating.

Now, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, the play-in tournament is tentatively scheduled to begin on August 16, while the first round of the 2020 playoffs is set on August 18. The second round will begin on September 1, the conference finals on September 15 and the NBA Finals September 30.

As mentioned, however, the said key dates are not yet finalized.

It has been previously reported that the 2020 Finals will conclude by October 12th, so the said schedule Charania mentioned puts the league well on track to achieve that goal.

The NBA would like to start the 2020-21 season in December, ideally somewhere around Christmas. To recall, the 2011-12 lockout season began on Christmas Day.

Although most experts have the Los Angeles Lakers and Milwaukee Bucks as the two favorites to win the title, these unprecedented games will surely take a life of its own. It’s hard to predict which team is going to win the title since guys haven’t played competitive basketball since March.

When NBA teams arrive in Orlando between July 7 and 9, everyone will be quarantined in their rooms for 36 hours. Daily testing will follow the quarantine period, with the NBA hoping to use a saliva mouth swab to replace the deep-nasal swab which is very uncomfortable.

If a player tests positive for COVID-19, they will be quarantined for at least 10 days. The player will also have to have two negatives COVID-19 tests before playing again.
