The NBA and Beats by Dre have officially announced their new global partnership. Mark Medina of The Mercury News posted a video component of the announcement from the official Beats by Dre YouTube page via Twitter. The video features Draymond Green, LeBron James and a host of other stars.

Beats by Dre (Beats) is a world-leading premium headphone brand that was co-founded by Dr. Dre and Lovine. This new partnership will make Beats the official headphone, wireless speaker and audio partner of the NBA, WNBA, G League and USA Basketball starting in October of 2018. The company hopes the popularity and global appeal of league stars will help them expand their reach.

HARMAN partnered with the league and agreed to be the official headphone and audio partner of the league in 2014. Their JBL headphones have been endorsed by the likes of Steph Curry, Damian Lillard and others. However, this deal is coming to a close as a new era begins.

“The NBA and its players have long been significant drivers of global culture. Basketball, music, and style speak as one voice: Julius Erving became a style icon, Allen Iverson cemented hip hop’s place on and off the court and LeBron James is breaking new music every day… the list goes on and on,” said Luke Wood, President of Beats by Dr. Dre. “This partnership with the NBA is the perfect alignment for Beats. It feels like coming home.”

This new deal is part of Beats' 10 year anniversary and will outfit athletes with high-quality products during events like NBA All-Star Weekend, the NBA Draft, WNBA All-Star Weekend, the WNBA Draft and USA Basketball exhibition tours. Many players have been using Beats products for years and are excited about the innovations this partnership will bring. The company has been transcendent by making electronics a fashion statement. Many athletes have their own distinct styles and can appreciate wanting to establish a unique image and brand.

Beats plans on rolling out exclusive deals with each NBA team that will feature NBA branded headphones in the near future. NBA fans should look forward to some interesting new creations from this partnership in the upcoming season.
