Two-time NBA champion Mario Chalmers is back in Miami, but he's not with the Miami Heat.

The 33-year-old Chalmers is competing in Ice Cube's BIG3 league with Rashard Lewis, Reggie Evans and the 3 Headed Monsters, which is scheduled to face Gilbert Arenas' Enemies on Saturday at American Airlines Arena. Despite having a chance to play (semi-)competitive hoops, Chalmers still pines for another opportunity in the NBA.

“I’m happy just to be playing basketball. But I do want to get back in the NBA,” Chalmers said, per Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald. “As a kid, you always dream about being in this league. I always said to myself, I at least want 10-plus years in the league. I’m at nine right now. So I definitely want to get back in the league for at least two, three more years if I can. At least one, if anything.”

Chalmers, who last appeared in the Association with the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2017-18 season, has been away ever since. After his time in Memphis, the former second-round pick went to Virtus Bologna to play in the Italian league.

While returning to the big league is his priority, Chalmers emphasized he would be open to playing overseas again if the NBA doesn't work out.

“I’m going to keep playing until the wheels fall off,” Chalmers added. “So if the NBA doesn’t work out for me, I’m definitely open to going back overseas.”

Mario Chalmers spent seven-plus seasons with Miami, winning two championships with the franchise during the LeBron James era. He was traded to Memphis in November of 2015.
